There are lot of factors to consider:
maximum sheet size, maximun print area, max grammage, resolution, coating (fuser type) and the last but not the least ... unit price (both for the print cost per sheet or the price of the unit itself.)

If you are referring to color lasers for use in digital printing, I suggest you look into the models of Fuji Xerox and Konica Minolta. Fuji Xerox is marketed by Fuji Xerox Phils.; while Konica Minolta is carried by Ubix and Copylandia. The Develop brand marketed by Copylandia is actually a rebadged Konica Minolta. These machines are available in 2 ups sizes making them suitable for A4 and letter sized publications with saddle stitch binding.

In addition to fuji xerox and konika minolta. there is one from Canon, they call it imagepress C1 and imagepress C7000vp. C1 is 14ppm in A4 size, C7000VP can print 70ppm. It has a maximum size of 13 x 19 in. Canon has just completed their color management tools. Look for their workflow or application consultant - Color Management for more details.

Canon's Imagepress can not even simulate SWOP. So the Color Range is very small just like an ordinary Canon's Imagerunner I saw at National Bookstore. I also read from other forum that it is not consistent and not uniform, misregistered back to back printing. The durability is also inferior compared to Xerox and other brands base on specifications. And since it is new in the market, we need to ask those who already acquired.

Hi icc_user.

I saw this at http://www.canon.co.uk/

***********************************************
The i1-Process Control software, developed specifically for the imagePRESS C1, ensures complete harmony between the print engine and colour tools. The process control combines the best X-Rite i1 software components within an easy-to-use interface. Included in the system is Fogra Media Wedge CMYK, which allows users to quickly and easily verify their output against the ISO 12647-2 international standard. Canon has also included a library of Pantone EC colours, developed specifically for CMYK digital print devices, within the imagePRESS C1’s i1-Process Control.
***********************************************

What's your take on this?

Larry

The printer itself is inconsistent. How can you profile a printer with a moving target. On a personal note, Canon Engineers have problems about Color and Color Management. Sleep

If what they say is true na meron i1 device na integrated sa Canon imagepress, and with a Fogra Media Wedge CMYK then colors can be verified if it's within ISO. Question is...what if it's not? What do we do?

Kung moving target kasi ang press mahirap talaga ma-profile ito...if not, impossible.

Well, you can average...but still di ito reliable. Dapat talaga ang printer consistent talaga ang buga. Even an ideal press will eventually drift overtime....but not from time to time.

Regards.

Good evening everybody.

Canon is launching the C7000VP at Dusit Hotel Thru PPTF. For those who are attending the launching. Please try to ask the consistency and repeatability. if they say delta E 2.0. ask them to put in writing, if they cant, then its just another marketing trick trying to oversell.

The printer is not running. Some people commented things like how come the canon red is not red. The samples are corporate type, they do not think like a printer. It could have been better if they have printed things like color bars. Their Large format prints is very sharp and it looks good though, but not the imagepress prints.

How's Kyocera compared to the mentioned brands?

Has anyone made a per printed page cost comparison on the mentioned brands? Correct me if I'm wrong, Fuji xerox has something called Total Care Program. The laser printer utilization is metered by page. For black & white it's about P10.5/page and P15/page for colored prints. This may not be accurate but within the ball park. What about the others?

Depending on the kind of installation. Meaning if you put a finisher, the cost per page will go higher.

What about if we stick with the basic prints only? Cost analysis anyone? Peso per page say a 500 or a thousand pages of A4 size ordinary paper. Is that a good basis of comparison. I'm trying to keep it at the the end-users viewpoint.

Ibig sabihin matindi ito.

The procedure for certifying proofers according to the new ISO 12647-7 is more critical kasi.

The old procedure stresses on the Delta E of the 30, or so color/gray patches found in the Ugra-Fogra Media Wedge v2.

The v3 of the new Media Wedge has more control points and raised the number of color patches to about 70+.

Moreover, there is a required Delta H for both process colors and graybalance patches. The Delta H stands for the hue error according to the colorwheel.

I have to double check but from what I know the color patches should be <2.5 dH; and <1.5 for grays dH.
