The Ifra Asia Media Awards has already started. Our company has registered for this event. This is how it goes. We have to print our publication together with a technical test target. We will have to send samples to Ifra in Germany every two weeks until the end of January.

The test will be measured and compared to the critical-to-quality parameters of the ISO 12647-3 standards (gamut, gray balance, dotgain, register, etc...). Whoever gets the highest points wins.

Our company already won in the Best in Print category back in 2006. I hope we get lucky once again. Wish us luck!

The 1st results came out. We got maximum points for the following:

Paper L* value, Paper a* value, TVI deviation from target, CMY midtone spread, CMYK midtone spread, Light Gray Balance, Medium Gray Balance, Dark Gray Balance, ISO Color Space Coverage, & Register.

The theoretical points one could get for this competition is 50. The highest score was 49.39. We got 48. We lost 2 points ONLY because our paper is "more neutral"! Our Paper b* value is 1.

Had we used a "yellowish" paper (b* value 2 to 4) we would have gotten the additional 2 points to become the highest-scoring participant.

Oh well. 1 test down.....3 more tests to go!
