PostSubject: Harlequin RIP SP50155-14 ECRM Eclipse RIP v 6.4   Sun Jul 19, 2009 3:30 pm

Hi!

This is a spare RIP. This was connected to a mako 56 and a canon ws6200 but was replaced because of certain limitations.

I'm just wondering if anybody worked with this kind of RIP. I was thinking of putting it in an old G4 1Ghz and connect it to a canon or an epson printer and then print polyester plates on it. Can the RIP control the spray nozzles of the printer such that dots can clearly be printed?

I talked to the supplier of the polyester plates and he said that not all RIPs are compatible to large printers.

This will certainly cut processes. Kinda like a cheap version of a ctp.

Thanks for your thoughts!

You will have to check if the rip will print the ripped files on the ink jets with the corresponding screens.

BTW, the Canon w6200 is already phased out. The rip might not have the drivers for the current canon & epson models.

Sir Presstech, the RIP was bundled with the imagesetter and the proofer. I think compatibility is not an issue. But I talked with my cousin and he said there's another rip for the printer. I will have to confirm this.

You can use this Harlequin for any output device be it CtF, CtP or a color proofer. Just like the Apogee, etc.

However, different proofing brands have their own preference on which RIP will work best for their proofers. Epsons, generally speaking, work well with EFI, Oris or GMG.

Sir Larry,

IMO, one will need number key for a device to work with Harlequin.
